About Joshua l’Abbé
Joshua l’Abbé is a lawyer with an independent practice, who practices alongside Yoav Niv.
He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary. He received a law degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, where graduated with Merit (Distinction). In law school Joshua took an interest in criminal law and client-based advocacy, working with the Scottish Citizens Advice Bureau, an organisation giving free legal advice to individuals dealing with an array of legal issues.
Joshua articled at a medium-sized firm in Calgary, providing assistance to clients on a wide spectrum of legal matters, including residential and commercial real estate, human rights law, residential tenancies, and civil litigation. In 2022, Joshua was called to the Alberta Bar, and immediately began his practice in criminal law. Today, Joshua primarily focuses on criminal law while continuing to offer his services in human rights law and civil litigation.
Joshua accepts both legal aid and private retainer clients.

My criminal defence practice operates under the philosophy that all individuals are presumed innocent and have the right to a dedicated defence and a fair trial.
I also assist individuals and institutional clients in the areas of civil litigation, insurance claims, and environmental/health regulation violations.
